Monastery of Abuna Hara Dengeel

Monastery of Abuna Hara Dengeel to be Established in the Dallas, Texas Area In collaboration with Miskabe Qidusan Arbahara Medhanealem Gedam in Menz Ethiopia

Vision & Sanctuary

The Dallas campus centers on prayer, hospitality, and culture. There will be spacious hallways for communal cooking, light-filled iconography, and a listing of monthly planning sessions for supporters from the diaspora.

Spaces of stillness

The nave will integrate halo lighting, stone floors, and seating tuned to Zema chanting so families feel grounded in the rituals.

Community pulse

Circles gather for prayer, crafts, and stewardship. Each update is shared via the mailing list in the P.O. Box notice and partner communications.

Sanctuary services

Weekly liturgies, youth education, cultural programs, and diaspora fundraisers keep the project advancing through 2030 and beyond.

Planning Timeline

These are the planning phases we are tracking for the next five years.

  1. Finalize land acquisition, engineering studies, and zoning approvals while inviting design partners to share proposals.

  2. Detail the sanctuary layout, gather feedback during monthly Dallas liaison meetings, and align fundraising milestones.

  3. Break ground on the main nave, install lighting, and schedule cultural residencies ahead of the grand opening planning.
